What Is Maca Root?
Maca root is found in the Andes mountains of South America. It is considered an adaptogen supplement, meaning it works to reduce fatigue and strengthen our natural ability to resist stress. Our body responds to stress through a specific region in the brain; the hypothalamus. It is tasked with controlling how the body identifies, and reacts to various types of stressors. Over time, if the hypothalamus is overworked via long term stress it becomes far less effective. This can result in low levels of stress having a significant impact on the body.
Maca root has the incredible capability of interacting with the hypothalamus, making it much more efficient in managing stress. This can result in far less fatigue and improvements to the immune system.
How Can Maca Root Benefit Me?
How Maca Root Increases Energy
Maca Root itself is not directly stimulating. Nevertheless, by having the ability to modulate the hypothalamus and neurotransmitter function, this plays a significant roles in increasing overall energy levels. By improving the function of neurotransmitters such as glutamate and serotonin, energy levels can in turn be improved. This kind of indirect improvement of energy is preferred to many rather than heavy stimulating supplements such as caffeine, which is always prone to a crash.
How Much Should I Take?
When eating raw maca root, the recommended dosage is around 10g per day. We concentrate our maca 10X to allow for a more reasonable dose while maintaining the effectiveness of the plant. We recommend taking 2 capsules per day of our 10:1 maca root extract, providing 8g of raw maca root equivalent.
