What Is CBD Oil?

CBD stands for cannabidiol - which is just one of the active cannabinoids contained in the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). It’s completely non-psychoactive and works by supporting important processes like homeostasis, as well as the immune, neurological, and circulatory system.
To make CBD oil we first extract the CBD along with other cannabinoids - like CBC, CBG, and CBN - and other beneficial compounds like terpenes and polyphenols. The extract is then mixed with a high-grade hemp seed oil to improve absorption and provide other beneficial compounds - such as omega fatty acids and antioxidants.

These CBD oil capsules contain 20mg of pure cannabidiol per serving, dissolved in a hemp seed carrier oil to support absorption through the digestive tract.

Product Details
These CBD oil capsules are made from premium European hemp, and extracted using state of the art supercritical carbon dioxide.
Carbon dioxide, like all other elements on earth, have a specific boiling point where they change from a liquid to a gas. Using high-tech equipment we can force the carbon dioxide into a rare supercritical state - where it’s both a liquid and a gas at the same time.
This unique state of CO2 makes it a perfect solvent for extracting the phytochemicals from plants - including hemp.
The process is extremely safe and efficient, stripping the cannabinoids out of the hemp plant and leaving the unwanted fibers, proteins, and minerals behind. No need for toxic solvents, or high heat which can degrade the quality of the final product.
Once the pressure is released, the CO2 evaporates from the solution immediately, leaving behind pure hemp extract.
This CBD extract is dissolved in hemp seed oil to improve absorption in the digestive tract and encapsulated into gel capsules.
Each softgel capsule contains 10 milligrams of pure CBD extract dissolved in 200mg high-grade hemp seed carrier oil.
We recommend taking one or two capsules per day. Dosages can vary from one person to the next so it’s important to listen to your body and take the dose that feels best for you. Start small, and increase the dose once you know how your body reacts.

The Science Behind CBD Oil

1. Homeostasis (Balance)
CBD and several other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant have the unique ability to interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the body.
The endocannabinoid system consists of a series of receptors that serve to regulate cellular communication, and are heavily involved with the process of homeostasis (balance).
One of the many functions of the endocannabinoid system is to act like “read receipts” for the nervous system. This works similarly to the read receipts on a messenger app - providing feedback to tell the sender that the message was received.
This is important to the maintenance of homeostasis because it allows the nervous system to communicate with other organs around the body more effectively.
Maintaining homeostasis is incredibly complex and involves careful cooperation with multiple organ systems. The ECS helps optimise communication between different organ systems by letting the sender know that the message was received.
Imagine you were meeting someone in one hour from now but needed to reschedule the meeting for two hours instead. You would likely send that person a message letting them know you're running behind.
The read receipts will tell you whether that person got the message or not even if they don’t get a chance to reply. If you find that they still haven't read the message, you might want to take stronger steps to make sure they get the message before the scheduled meeting.

This is very similar to how the ECS functions to provide feedback on messages sent around the nervous system.

2. CBD & The Endocannabinoids
The endocannabinoid system is comprised of two hormone-like endocannabinoids (anandamide and 2-AG) and two main endocannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2 receptors).
The endocannabinoids work together to activate and deactivate the CB1 and CB2 receptors around the body to exert their effects.

Cannabidiol doesn’t act directly on the endocannabinoid receptors - instead, it works to prevent the breakdown of our naturally occurring endocannabinoids, and inhibits a special enzyme tasked with breaking down the endocannabinoids known as FAAH (fatty acid amide hydrolase).

3. Other Effects
CBD is a versatile compound - it also interacts with other receptors in the body including the TRPV1 (vanilloid) receptors, the opioid receptors (mu-opioid), and 5HT1 receptors (serotonin), and over a dozen other receptors found throughout the body.

ENHANCING YOUR CBD OIL SUPPLEMENT

There are a few other supplements you can combine with your CBD Oil to achieve an even greater benefit...

1. For General Health

The effects of CBD on maintaining homeostasis provides value for supporting general health. It’s often combined with other adaptogenic herbs such as Rhodiola Rosea or Ashwagandha KSM-66.
Adaptogenic herbs like Rhodiola are especially well-suited for combining with CBD because they produce similar effects on the body but work through completely separate mechanisms - giving the combination a broader depth of effects than either supplement taken on their own.

2. For Relaxation

CBD is useful for supporting relaxation through its activity on GABA receptors in the brain.
For this reason, it’s often combined with L-Theanine for its potent GABA activity in the brain.
GABA is a neurotransmitter that serves as the “brake pedal” for the nervous system - slowing it down and promoting relaxation.
